Detailed Description

Internet Payment Gateway to Bank

CentreBill provides a fully functional and integrated interface to the provider's bank, the bank which processes all credit card transactions on behalf of the provider.

The exact functionality will be determined by the integration capabilities provided by the merchant's bank. In this document, St George Bank of Australia has been used and successfully integrated into.

Furthermore, it is a statutory requirement that all transactions (in Australia, in any event) are stored for a minimum period of seven years. CentreBill thus conforms to this requirement.

The interface screen below shows the transaction summary for a predefined period:

  • Time - the date and time that the transaction was processed through the IPG

  • Type – the type of transaction

  • Amount – the value of the transaction

  • IPGW Response – the response back from the bank regarding the status of the transaction

  • IPGW Error – should the transaction have failed, then an error will be recorded

  • IPGW Reference – a reference code received back from the bank's payment gateway

  • Authcode – the authorization code received back from the bank

  • Settlement Date – the date on which the transaction was settled, namely, paid into the provider's bank account

The same information is provided in a report as shown below:

Incomplete or Failed Transactions

In the event that some payment gateway transactions were not successful, these will be displayed in an Incomplete Transactions Log, as shown below (no unsuccessful transactions are displayed in this list):

This information is useful for managing (by exception) those customers who need to be contacted as most likely there is a problem with their credit card or their account. The information included in the list is:
  • Receipt – the receipt number that the payment gateway was attempting to process and which failed

  • Cardholder – the contact name of the cardholder

  • Amount – the value of the failed transaction

  • Date – the date of the failed transaction

  • Status – the status of the transaction as determined by the IPG

  • Transaction Reference – the reference returned by the IPG for the failed transaction

Once the customer has been contacted and the cause of the problem rectified, e.g. more funds deposited to the customer's credit card, the provider may:

  • Retry Selected – attempt to charge a specific customer's card once again

  • Retry All – this may be useful where a group of customers have been addressed or in the event that the IPG was down in the first instance

  • Approve Selected – the provider may decide to accept payment from the customer even though their card was rejected (in the event of the IPG being down)

  • Decline Selected – the provider may decide to decline a selected payment regardless of the reason

Admin Console

This connects directly to the provider's merchant facility as though the provider were logged directly into the bank. The parameters which enable this direct logon are configured in the Company Setup section and are highly secure.

The screen below shows the console for the St George Bank merchant facility. It provides full functionality for the provider to view and execute any additional transactions online.
